Pygmy Lush's 2025 Newest CD!

Formed in 2004 by members who had previously played in various bands like pg99, Malady, and Haram, Pygmy Lush released their last album on Lovitt Records in 2011. Perhaps because of their indie rock/folk style, despite being made up of hardcore members, they seemed to receive almost no attention in Japan.

But! The band has made a comeback after over a decade, and I was shocked to hear they're now playing a much harder sound, almost like a throwback to their roots. Hmm... I thought they wanted to do indie rock back then, but this is basically noise rock! Plus, it's infused with raw intensity and sounds incredibly cool. While I wouldn't recommend it to fans of their indie/folk phase, it's fantastic to see these guys, now seasoned veterans, showcasing the potential that comes from intense hardcore. It's not just a reunion—they have something they want to do.

Pygmy Lushの2025年最新作CD!

pg99, Malady, Haram,等、他にも様々なバンドで活動していたメンバーによってPygmy Lushが結成されたのが2004年。前作はLovitt Recordsから2011年にリリースされているが、ハードコアなメンバーによるインディロック/フォークなスタイルの音楽性だったためか日本ではほとんど注目されていない印象があった。
しかし!バンドがなんと10年以上の時を超えて復活、その当時よりもかなり先祖返りしたハードな音を鳴らしていることに驚いてしまった。う〜〜ん、当時はインディロックをやりたかったのかと思っていたんだけど、これは所謂ノイズロックではないか!しかも激情感が加味されていてめちゃかっこいい。もちろんインディ/フォーク期のファンにはおすすめ出来ませんが、激情ハードコアからの可能性を提示するおっさん、という存在も素晴らしい。ただの再結成じゃなくてやりたいことがあるってこと。
