6EYES - "Vinculo" (CD)

Aichi Prefecture, Nagoya City's post-punk legend, 6eyes' 2025 work is completely “post.”

Is there any punk band in Japan that has confronted the pathologies of modern society to this extent? In a country facing a crisis of male identity, where even self-styled artists unknowingly succumb to the sad “middle-aged man-ness,” one cannot help but be intrigued by 6eyes (such a band certainly didn't exist before) confronting this with post-punk.

They attack the razor's edge with stripped-down, precarious sounds and performances, firing off politically risky words like “GGBB.” If you dismiss it as a gag, it might seem like trivial music. Indeed, elements that invite being seen as a novelty act exist—like the repeated use of Golden Ball-esque tracks in their solo works. Their self-performed embodiment of the sad “middle-aged man-ness” is pure Joker.

Yet the title means “connection” in Spanish, and despite the lyrics' words, the message is profound. Recording, mixing, and mastering were all done at Nakamura Soichiro's Peace Studio.

愛知・名古屋のポストパンク伝説、6eyesの2025年作品は、完全に"ポスト"している。日本で現代社会の病理にここまで向き合ったパンクバンドはいるのだろうか。男性性アイデンティティクライシスに直面するこの国で、アーティスト気取る人間達ですら知らず知らず染まっていく悲しき"おっさん性"に、ポストパンクを持って対峙する6eyes(かつてはそんなバンドはもちろんなかった)について興味が沸かずにはいられない。"GGBB"など、情勢的にも危ういワードを連発しながらギリギリの際を、削ぎ落としたギリギリの音と演奏で攻めていく。ギャグと捉えてしまえばくだらない音楽に映るだろう、いや実際にソロワークスでのGolden Ball的な楽曲を連発するなど色物として見られる要素は事実存在する。悲しき"おっさん性"を自ら演ずる様はジョーカーそのもの。しかしタイトルの意味はスペイン語で「繋がり」、歌詞の言葉達とは裏腹にメッセージ性十分。レコーディング、ミックス、マスタリングまでを中村宗一郎のPeace Studioにて行っている。
