sheersücker - "My Own Owner"(CD)

This is the debut album from sheersücker, hailing from Tomakomai, Hokkaido. Building on their indie rock/emo-tinged EP, they’ve taken a step forward, incorporating more post-rock and indie elements. While the sound itself may seem subdued, the messages conveyed in the lyrics are, by contrast, powerful. The soundscapes—which evoke a sense of space, gaps, and silence—lack the deceptive hooks typical of rock and punk, yet this unique sonic quality is something you won’t find in Tokyo. Their current sound is rooted in a musically rich environment.

北海道苫小牧から登場したsheersückerの1stアルバム。インディーのロック/エモ感があったEPから更に前進、ポスト/インディー感を増して音的には大人しい印象はあるが、対照的にインナーに関するメッセージは強い。空間、隙間、静寂を感じさせる音の構成はロック・パンクの騙しのフックはないが、この音の感じは東京にはないモノ。音楽的にも豊かな土壌で成り立つ今のバンドサウンド。
