velocityquarters - "reshuffle" (CD EP)

This is the 2025 release EP from velocityquarters, a three-piece band based in Nagano. I'd heard their previous EP was actually recorded several years ago, but this new work completely overturns my initial impression—it's a masterpiece! It evokes the emo-alternative lineage reminiscent of BALLOONS and up and coming!

I've taken the liberty of naming the resonance of their guitar ensemble chords “stylish chords.” They likely combine 7th or 9th harmonies, and these chords are more prominently featured than on their previous work, sounding incredibly cool.

I assume this is being treated as a single, but including a remix as a B-side—is that just a given for those of us who lived through the 90s!?

長野で活動するスリーピース、velocityquartersの2025年リリースEPです。前作のEPは作品として数年前に制作されていたものとは聞いていたんですが、本作は最初に受けていた印象を塗り替える出来栄え、BALLOONSやup and comingを彷彿とさせるエモ・オルタナティブな系譜!ギターアンサンブルのコードの響きを勝手に"オシャレコード"と命名していますが、おそらく7thとか9thとかのハーモニーを組み合わせた形でそれが前作よりも全面に出てきていてカッコいいです。シングル的な扱いかと思いますが、カップリング的にremixが挿入されているのはもはや90年代に生きてきた人間のお約束なのか!?
