Frail Hands - "Frail Hands" (LP : Black/White Mix)

Plus, the LP features a black & white mix color that perfectly embodies the original aesthetic. The label's attention to detail really shines through, making it feel incredibly solid. Releases like this are truly trustworthy. The fact that it's distributed by Deathwish is an amazing pairing too, and you can feel the anticipation building.

The sound is US screacmo, with hints of emo violence and chaotic elements, but overall it's pure Skramz!! The band members feature a female vocalist, and the instrumentalists are two guys with glasses and two with beards – a nerd aesthetic that might invite criticism about lookism. But honestly, their look just commands belief. They're a band from Halifax, Canada, a city known for producing many quality artists.

Halifax is said to be the largest cultural and economic hub on Canada's Atlantic coast (see Wikipedia). Their sound draws from US screamo, like Orchid or Portrait Of Past, while also incorporating elements reminiscent of the classic stylistic beauty found in European bands like La Quiete or Raein. It's a work that references the history of the 90s and 00s while presenting a screamo style for the 2010s.

2010年代激情の話題盤がLPで再発!! この音源、2017年にカセットでリリースされたのみだったんですが凄く内容が良くてSold Out後もSkramzコミュニティで話題になっていた作品。2019年にLPでリイシューされたのは歓喜という他ない。しかもLPはオリジナルのイメージを具現化したようなブラック&ホワイトのミックスカラー。レーベル側にもこだわりがあってかなり良い感じだ。本当に信じられるのはこういうリリースだ。

流通はDeathwish、というタッグの組み方もすごいし、期待値の高まりを感じる。音はUS激情、エモバイオレンスやカオティックな要素も感じさせるんだけど、総じてSkramz!! バンドメンバーは女子Voに演奏陣はメガネx2、ヒゲx2のナード感はルッキズム云々で批判に晒されそうだが、しかし完全に信じるしかない面構えで、良質アーティストの多いカナダのHalifaxのバンド。

カナダ大西洋岸地方最大の文化・経済の中心都市といわれている(wikipedia参照)んだけど、彼らの音はUS激情、たとえばOrchidやPortrait Of Pastのような流れも、ヨーロッパのLa QuieteやRaeinといったクラシックな様式美を感じるような要素もある。90年代、00年代の歴史を参照しつつ、2010年代の激情のスタイルを提示するような作品になっている。
