La Quiete - "La Fine Non E La Fine" (LP)

The first album by La Quiete, one of the most essential bands in the Italian screamo scene, has been reissued.

Today, they’ve captivated screamo fans all over the world, but their roots trace back to the ’90s US scene, heavily influenced by Ebullition-style emo-violence bands like Orchid. It makes perfect sense that they shared a bill with Ampere on their Japan tour, brought over by killie and heaven in her arms.

While deeply shaped by US screamo, La Quiete carved out their own path, searching for a uniquely local answer. By incorporating a more European, almost classical sense of melody, dialing back excessive distortion, and focusing on sharp guitar interplay and dramatic songwriting, they reached a new level entirely.

The tension is razor-tight, the performances intensely emotional. A beautifully chaotic form of hardcore. A historic masterpiece to the point that you almost envy anyone hearing it for the first time.

Riding the recent wave of the skramz revival, they’ve even reunited and are playing live again.

Their later work became more refined, reaching a kind of solitary perfection. But the early La Quiete, with its urgency, desolation, and raw initial impulse, is unbeatable.

European screamo at its finest.

イタリア激情シーン最重要バンドのひとつ、La Quieteの1stがリイシューされた。
いまでは世界中の激情ファンを虜にしている彼らだがルーツは90年代のUS激情、それこそOrchid等Ebullition系のエモバイオレンスをモロに影響されていた。killieとheaven in her armsが招聘していた来日ツアーでAmpereと組んでいたのも頷ける。彼らの場合US激情の影響を大きく受けながらもローカルならでは答え、オリジナリティを模索し、欧州的なクラシカルな響きやサウンドのディストーションを押さえ、エッジの効いたギターアンサンブルとドラマチックな曲構成を組み立てることによって新しい境地に到達したのだと思う。張り詰めた緊張感とエモーショナルな演奏が素晴らしい。美しいカオティックハードコアの世界。未聴の人が羨ましいほどの歴史的名作。近年のskramzブームの追い風を受けて再結成もしてライブしている模様です。

後期ではより楽曲は洗練され孤高の境地へ到達したが、初期La Quieteの焦燥感、寂寥感、そして初期衝動の塊は最高!欧州激情!
