LORI + LETTERBOMBS - "SPLIT"(LP)

A split 12-inch by Löri from Berlin, Germany, and Letterbombs from Finland.

Löri seems to have originally formed in Lima, Peru, but now operates out of Germany. They blend skramz with elements reminiscent of earlier bands like HIS HERO IS GONE, creating a distinct sound clearly different from recent skramz acts. While Shove Records' Bandcamp lists them as “post-everything,” it's not a chaotic mishmash; the focus is sharp. Neo-crust fans will likely find something to appreciate here.

Letterbombs, on the other hand, are emo violence. They too give an impression distinct from recent skramz bands. The European scene truly flows separately from the US. Their chaotic hardcore progressive elements and math rock-like irregular arrangements are techniques only achievable through the band's high level of musicianship. This enables a multifaceted expression of emotion, giving even their short songs ample dramatic depth.

Löriは元々ペルーのリマで結成されたバンドのようだが、今はドイツに拠点を移して活動しており、激情ハードコアと前時代のHIS HERO IS GONEのような要素も持っており近年のskramz勢とは明らかに異なるブレンドがある。Shove Recordsのbandcampには「post-everything」と記載されているがゴチャ混ぜ感ではなく焦点は絞られている。ネオクラスト好きにも通じるものがあるだろう。Letterbombsはエモバイオレンスだ。彼らもまた近年のskramz勢とは異なる印象がある。やはりヨーロッパの流れはUSとは別だ。カオティックハードコアなプログレッシブな要素、マスロックな変則的なアレンジもバンドの演奏力の高さが生み出せる技。それゆえに一辺倒でない感情の表現が可能になり、短い楽曲群であっても十分にドラマ性がある。
