Usurp Synapse - "Disinformation Fix" (2xLP)

A compilation originally released by Alone Records in 2003 has been reissued by Zegema Beach Records. It’s an important part of the history of 1990s emo-violence, featuring previously unreleased and unfinished tracks from that era, as well as split releases with legendary bands of the time like Hassan I Sabbah, Jeromes Dream, and Neil Perry—making it packed with highlights. It looks like there are an insane number of tracks, but since each one is incredibly short, it might not actually feel like 50 songs (though that’s still a massive amount). I think the progressive, impulse-driven chaos is what defined the edge of that era, and it can also be seen as a manifestation of a spirit that refused to be easily accepted or consumed. It really was a deep era. The album artwork is also outstanding; the design—which combines a gatefold cover with a laser-cut inner sleeve—is pretty wild, or rather, it really shows a lot of attention to detail.

Alone Recordsから2003年にリリースされた編集盤が、Zegema Beach Recordsよりリイシューされました。1990年代のエモバイオレンスの重要な歴史の一部であり、また当時未完成で未リリースだった音源なども収録するなどされており、Hassan I Sabbah、Jeromes Dream、Neil Perryといった同時時代の伝説的なバンドたちと組んだスプリット作品含め聴きどころ多数でした。めちゃくちゃ曲数が多く見えるが1曲あたりめちゃくちゃ速いので体感的には50曲分もないかもしれない（それでも膨大だけど）プログレッシブかつ衝動に溢れてる混沌が、この時代のエッジだと思うし、それは簡単に受領・消費されることを拒んだ精神性の現れとも言える。ディープな時代なんだよなぁ。アルバムアートワークも秀逸で、ゲートフォールド仕様かつレーザーカットされた表紙と中ジャケットが合わさったデザインは相当に狂ってるというかこだわりを感じさせる。
