Votive - "An Infinite Capacity for Joy" (LP)

A 2026 album by Votive, an absolutely killer band from Texas, USA. It gives off a vibe of insanely intense emo-violence, but that’s not just due to reckless, impulsive energy—it also incorporates grindcore and sludge elements, and I think it’s a testament to their playing and sound, which masterfully combine speed and heaviness. With members from Respire, Portrayal of Guilt, and Porcelain reportedly contributing, the album brilliantly fuses raw passion with black metal and post-hardcore on an exceptionally high level, capturing an overwhelming momentum that feels like it’s mowing everything down in its path. The color palette of the album artwork is also exquisite.

USテキサスの超グッドバンド、Votiveの2026年アルバム。無茶苦茶に圧の強いエモバイオレンス、という感触なんだけどそれはただ勢い任せな性急さに依存したものではなくてグラインドコアやスラッジ的な要素もあり、速さや重さを兼ね備えている演奏とサウンドの成せる技だと思う。Respire、Portrayal of Guilt、Porcelainのメンバーも参加しているそうで正に激情とブラックメタルやポストハードコアを素晴らしく高い次元で融合しており、全てを薙ぎ倒していくかのような圧倒的な勢いが録音されている。アルバムアートワークの色使いも絶妙。
