The “ROCCON” seem to be a Buddhist teaching. They apparently refer to the six senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch, and cognition. You could say they encompass all senses—the so-called five senses plus human consciousness. While Buddhism itself originated with Shakyamuni in India, it has deep roots in Japanese history and could be considered a philosophical system that spread widely in Japan. Whether the band Roccon links to such religious thought is unclear, but their song titles have been in Japanese since their first album, and their themes feel rooted in Japan. Musically, the duo setup of vocals + guitar and drums creates a chaotic vortex that assaults with an emo-violence-like urgency. Their sound inherits the Japanese hardcore context, yet their approach feels contemporary, even innovative.
While they don't explicitly push feminist themes to the forefront, within the conservative hardcore scene, having a female vocalist release a track titled “Question the Meaning of Speaking Through Sex” might represent a new trend. (Though this comment itself feels somewhat off-topic regarding the song's theme.)
True to its title, is this an album that connects the dots between the previous and next works?
