ante - "beyond the ages" (CASSETTE)

2024 album by Tokyo-based instrumental rock band ante.

The album was mastered by Takaaki Mino of toe, and while carefully following the context of Japanese instrumental post-rock from the 2000s onward, the melodies, development, and ensembles have a catchy Japanese rock or anime song feel to them.

Also, the cover artwork reminds me of the composition of mouse on the keys' album “the flowers of romance,” which I thought might be okay since the genres are so close, but as it turns out, the sound is not similar, so it's safe to say.

Overall,the recording and mix are clean, and the two guitar ensemble and song structure are simple and penetrating, which fits well with the light music. The album's composition is also of very high quality, with some rough and tumble performances from time to time. I personally felt some kind of Shaft anime-like texture.
