Lantern - "M.U.S.A." (12inch EP)

An Italian alternative screamo band formed in 2009 with a long history, this marks their first release in the 2020s after a long hiatus.
Although this album was originally released in 2022, it was only available on cassette at the time, and this is its first-ever vinyl release.

From the very first track—which opens with a 100% pure European “skramz” style before diving into a moody instrumental section—it’s clear that this album isn’t just a rehash of the past.

With its experimental sound design and the inclusion of choral parts, the band demonstrates a free-spirited approach; while the form may differ, it’s not unreasonable to say this follows the “skramz”-influenced alternative rock path pioneered by Viva Belgrado.

It’s a five-track EP; the songs are short, but they show great potential.

イタリアのオルタナティブScreamo、2009年結成で歴史は長く2020年代の久し振りのリリース。その2022年リリース作だけどフィジカルはカセットだけしか出てなくて今回初レコード化された。100%純度の欧州激情スタイルで幕を開けたかと思えば、ムーディーなインストパートへ突入していく1曲目からも、この作品が過去の焼き回してはないことを感じさせる。

挑戦的な音作りや合唱パートを設けたりといった自由な発想があり、形は違えどViva Belgradoが辿った激情経由のオルタナティブロック路線と言えなくもない。5曲入りEP、曲は短いが可能性がある。
