2023 album “DISASTER” = “calamity,” that is, vs. the world

The 2023 album “DISASTER” is the first album released in five years since “enemy” in 2018. As the title suggests, it deals with “disasters” beyond human control. In other words, it features a large-scale worldview beyond the power of individuals, and expresses skramz music that confronts this worldview.

This is clearly an expression aimed at the modern world, and the approach of conveying the changes sought from the era not through lyrics but through the world of sound resonates with City Of Caterpillar. Tracks like 'Heaven is Still' and 'Stage Whisper' possess an explosive energy that evokes an anthem-like quality.

While the album title may evoke the COVID-19 pandemic, it actually delves into more abstract themes, ultimately expressing the conflict between the individual and the world.

The lowercase “enemy” and uppercase “DISASTER.” Are we powerless to act, left only to silence and exhaustion in the face of disasters unfolding far away?

2023年アルバム『DISASTER』="厄災"、それはvs 世界

2023年アルバム『DISASTER』は2018年の『enemy』以来、5年ぶりにリリースされたアルバムで、タイトルの通り、人間のコントロールの及ばない"厄災"。つまりは個人の力の及ばないスケールの大きな世界観が特徴で、そこに対峙する形で表現される激情ハードコアがある。明らかに現代の世界に向けられた表現であり、時代に対して求める変化を「歌詞」としてではなく、音の世界で表現していくというやり方はCity Of Caterpillarにも通じるものがある。「Heaven is Still」「Stage Whisper」あたりの爆発力のある楽曲はアンセム感すら漂う。アルバムタイトルもコロナ禍をイメージさせるところもあるが、実際にはもっと抽象的なテーマに落とし込んだ上で、個人 vs 世界を表現したアルバムだ。小文字の『enemy』、大文字の『DISASTER』。遠くで起こっている災いに、我々は何も出来ず沈黙し、そして疲れ果てるだけなのか。
