SWARRRM - "偽救世主共(Nise-Kyuseishu-Domo) + AGAINST AGAIN" (CD)

Kobe's grindcore band SWARRRRM has been active since the late 90's, and even now in the 2020's, they have not stopped, but rather have accelerated their creative pace, creating one impactful piece after another. The band's sound continues to update and evolve with each new release, and their presence is nothing short of miraculous among the bands of this generation. The main purpose of this release is to revive the catalog of two albums released in the early 2000s, the period of SWARRRRM's early activities, and to re-present the significance of these masterpieces in the present day. This is a work that will provide new stimulation to listeners who are familiar with SWARRRM today, and it is also worth a second listen for listeners of that time.

Their first album “Against Again” (2000/God Door, CH) and second album “Nise-Kyuseishu-Domo” (2003/HG Fact) have been out of print for a long time, although they can sometimes be found on the used CD market. It is a work that is popular overseas as it fully demonstrates SWARRRM's appeal as a genre-crossing grindcore. This CD contains the contents of both albums, both of which are excellent in their own right, but the reissue is based on the artwork of “Nise-Kyuseishu-Domo,” which had a greater impact on the scene at the time, with a few adjustments and as much of the original taste as possible. 90年代後半から活動を始め、2020年代に入った今でも止まることなく、むしろ以前にも増して創作スピードを加速させ、次々とインパクトのある作品を生み出している神戸のグラインドコアSWARRRM。現在でもそのサウンドは作品毎に更新と進化を続けており、2010年代に入ってからのアルバム『Flower』(2014年/Daymare Recordings)、『こわれはじめる』(2018年/3LA)、『ゆめをみたの』(2021年/3LA)でも確実に新しいリスナーを獲得しており、この世代のバンドの中ではもはや奇跡的とも言える存在感を発している。そんなSWARRRMの活動初期とも言える2000年代前半期に発表された2枚のアルバムをカタログとして復活させる、そしてこれらの名作達の意義を現代に再提示してみることが本リリースの主たる目的となる。現在のSWARRRMを聴き込んでいるリスナーが聴いても新たな刺激を感じることができ、また当時のリスナーにとっても改めて聴くだけの価値はある作品なので、この機会に是非一聴して頂きたい。

1stアルバム『AGAINST AGAIN』(2000年/God Door,CH)、そして2ndアルバム『偽救世主共』(2003年/HG Fact)は時折中古CD市場では確認されるものの長らく廃盤になっていた作品で、ジャンル越境的なグラインドコアとしてのSWARRRMの魅力が存分に発揮されており海外でも人気の高い作品だ。本作CDでは両作品の内容を収録しており、どちらの作品もそれぞれに素晴らしい内容だが、当時のシーンへより多大なインパクトを与えた『偽救世主共』のアートワークをベースに若干の調整を入れつつもなるべくオリジナルのテイストを活かした形でリイシューしている。そのため、収録曲順は作品の時系列ではなく『偽救世主共』→『AGAINST AGAIN』という流れとしている。また2014年に3LAからリリースしている『20year chaos』(リリース当時、GtのKapo曰く「遅れてきた3rdアルバムくらいの気持ち」)も、この時期の前後=2000年代前半期の時期のEPやスプリットを厳選し再編集した内容なので、本作と合わせて聴いてみるとバンドの進化、破壊と創造の軌跡をより深く楽しむことが出来るだろう。そしてその軌跡はグラインドコアの"追求"であり、いま現在まで地続きであることを確信できると思います。
