This book is written in Japanese.

[What’s it about?]

This zine, centered on the theme of “Counterculture and Conspiracy Theories,” is composed of several articles covering topics such as drug culture, board games, parody religions, graffiti art, and the anti-establishment movements of the 1960s. While each article unfolds independently, they also overlap with one another in certain ways, creating a structure where these themes intertwine.

At the time, I thought that if I could express through this book—while critiquing conspiracy theories—the “pleasure” (if I may dare say so) that people derive from getting hooked on them, and allow readers to relive that experience through strictly fact-based arguments, then there would be meaning in tackling this theme on paper. Looking back and rereading it now, I think that attempt was probably reasonably successful.

SAPPORO POSSEが制作したZINE、というにはあまりにボリュームがありWIRED誌と間違えて買ってしまう奴もいるかもしれない表向きのジャケはカルチャーな書物。これは2024年に生きる"我々"サイドの人間は是非手にしていただきたいフィジカルというやつ。

元々SAPPORO POSSE氏のテキストとしてTHA BLUEHERBやstillichimiyaの記事の内容がとても面白かったので以前からチェックしていて、HPも昔のインターネット的ないかがわしさがある。それは今のSNSの数字で可視化されたバズを加速するシステムとは距離を置いたもので、その距離の置き方とセンスに個人的には絶大な信頼を寄せています。
なので、3LAのこれまでの活動、アウトプットが気に入っている人にとって今回入荷しているこの書籍は気に入ると思っています。各地で売り切れが続出しているのも納得、「特集:カウンターカルチャーと陰謀論」という副題に偽りのない、カウンターカルチャーと陰謀論の関係性を語りながら(それもそれぞれの章が独立しているようにみえながら全体を通して一本の物語になっており、小説を読んでいるかのような味わいすらある)しかし、それらは音楽の歴史としても深く関わっていながらあまり音楽評論では語られることはない物語があってめちゃくちゃ面白かった。

【どんな内容？】
「カウンターカルチャーと陰謀論」を主題とした本ZINEは、ドラッグカルチャー、ボードゲーム、パロディ宗教、グラフィティアート、60年代の反体制運動などを取り扱った複数の記事から構成されており、それらが独立して展開しながらも、同時にそれらがいくつかの点において他と重なり合う……というような構造になっています。

陰謀論を批判しつつも、人が陰謀論にハマることの「快感」――と敢えて言いますけども――を、あくまで事実ベースの論述によって追体験してもらえる、みたいなことを一冊の本を通じて表現できたら、このテーマを紙でわざわざやる意味があるんじゃないか、というようなことを当時思っておりました。振り返って改めて読んでみたところ、多分、その試みはまずまず成功していると思います。
