Inverted Clap - "Struggle to fabrication" (CD)

Tokyo-based EmoViolence band Inverted Clap's 2025 release was listed as their first album at Disk Union, but I recalled their previous 2018 release was actually an EP.

While it has “EmoViolence” elements, it doesn't feel like 100% pure EmoViolence—more like something else entirely. It's not the American version; it's that chaotic, chaotic sound that emerged in Japan during the 2000s. From today's perspective, it might refer to that anything-goes, jumbled chaos, or perhaps elements seen in early killie or Stubborn Father. It exists in a completely different context from modern Screamo and represents an endangered Japanese sound. The legendary drummer (genius or eccentric) Yuda from ex.lang plays on it, and while his drumming is brilliant, it doesn't really come to the forefront in the mix.

東京発EmoViolenceバンドInverted Clapの2025年作、1stアルバムとユニオンには書いてあったけど前作の2018年作はEPだったことを思い出した。
"EmoViolence"要素はあるにせよ、実質100%エモバイオレンスなわけではないというか、もっと別物に感じる。それはアメリカ的なそれではなく、00年代日本で発生していた混沌としたカオティックな音。今の視点から見ると、なんでもありのごちゃまぜにしたカオスを指しているのかもしれないし、killie初期やStubborn Fatherに見られるような要素とでも言えばいいだろうか。現代Screamoとは完全別文脈で、そして絶滅危惧種となった日本サウンドだろう。ex.langの名ドラマー(鬼才or奇才)のユダさんが叩いていて、このドラミングが天才的なのだがサウンドのミックス的にはあまり前面に出ていない。
