I went to see them on their Japan tour and it was an amazing live show, so I'm thrilled they're releasing a live album!
Plus, it's got this DIY vibe and the sound quality is incredible.

In 2023, the legendary post-hardcore/post-rock band JUNE OF 44 made their miraculous first visit to Japan.The label that invited them for their “final” reunion tour, imakinn records, is releasing the official live recording ‘LIVE IN TOKYO’, capturing their performance at FEVER in Shindaita, Tokyo.

Featuring a well-rounded selection of six songs spanning their early to late works, it traces the band's 30-year journey. Mastering was handled by Kevin Ratterman, a longtime friend of the band and drummer for Elliott. The jacket, produced at core member Jeff Mueller's workshop (Dexterity Press), features letterpress printing and is hand-numbered. Limited to 1,000 copies worldwide.

“I'm very satisfied with the content of this record. In many ways, I feel this is a project I've wanted to do for a long time that has finally come together. Because the members lived apart, our songs were often recorded immediately after being written, and sometimes they weren't even fully finished by the time we entered the studio. With ‘LIVE IN TOKYO’, I believe each selected song is recorded in its best possible state, in the absolute best form. I'm very satisfied with that, and I hope you all enjoy it too.”

2023年、奇跡の初来日を果たした伝説のポストハードコア/ポストロックバンド、JUNE OF 44。「最後」となった再結成ツアーの招聘元 imakinn records が、東京・新代田FEVER公演を収録した公式ライブ音源『LIVE IN TOKYO』をリリースする。

結成初期から後期作品までを満遍なく選曲し、バンドの30年間にわたる軌跡を描いた全6曲。マスタリングは、メンバーの旧友でありElliottのドラマーとしても知られるKevin Rattermanが担当した。中心メンバーであるJeff Muellerの工房(Dexterity Press)にて製造されたジャケットは、レタープレス(活版印刷)仕様でハンドナンバリング入り。全世界限定1000枚。

「このレコードの内容にはとても満足しています。いろいろな意味で、これはずっとやりたかったことがようやく形になった作品だと感じています。メンバーが離れて暮らしていたので、これまで僕たちの曲は、書き上げてすぐに録音されることが多く、時にはスタジオに入った時点でまだ完全に完成していないことさえありました。『LIVE IN TOKYO』は、選ばれたそれぞれの曲が、最も良い状態、これ以上ないベストな形で記録されていると思っています。その点にとても満足していますし、皆さんにも気に入ってもらえたら嬉しいです。」
