Massa Nera & Quiet Fear - "Quatro Vientos // Cinco Soles" (12inch)

A split release by two incredibly cool bands from the US East and West coasts: Massa Nera and Quiet Fear.

MASSA NERA is arguably one of the most cutting-edge bands within the experimental, pioneering spirit of 2000s screamo, pushing the boundaries of skramz.

They carry on the East Coast vibe of bands like Saetia and City Of Caterpillar, and their previous album was seriously good (incidentally, they're releasing a new album in 2025).

Quiet Fear, meanwhile, is a band gaining popularity on the West Coast in recent years. For some reason, they even played a secret house show together during SPOILMAN's US tour. They seem to have immigrant roots, and their titles have a Spanish flavor.

They've also shared the stage as support acts for recent legendary comebacks like Habak and, of course, Saetia, which really shows how much attention they're getting. This release feels like a seriously legit split. The tension is fantastic. There are also some collaborative tracks.

US東西のめちゃくちゃかっこいい2バンド、Massa NeraとQuiet Fearによるスプリット作。

MASSA NERAはおそらく00年代Screamoの試行錯誤的な開拓精神を持っているバンドの中では一番エッジの領域を走っている激情ハードコアの1バンドだと思う。SaetiaやCity Of Caterpillarといった東海岸の空気感を継承しており、前作アルバムも相当に良かった(ちなみに2025年にも新しいアルバムをリリースです)。

そしてQuiet Fearは近年西海岸で人気が高まっているバンドで、何故かSPOILMANのUS TOURのシークレットのハウスショウでも共演している。人種的にも移民系なのかな、タイトルなどもスパニッシュな匂いがします。

HabakやそれこそSaetia等の近年のレジェンド復活組ともサポートアクトとして共演するなど、その注目度の高さを感じられます。本作はかなりガチなスプリットになっていると感じます。緊張感も素晴らしい。共作もあり。
