This is the second album from New Jersey-based Shogazer/Goth-Rock, and it's a unique combination of sounds that's perfect for listening to at night.
While it's tagged as slowcore on Bandcamp, the sound is a flood of ethereal, dreamy, fairy-tale-like, and nostalgically sweet atmospheres. Yet it's not overwhelmingly loud; instead, it retains a private, intimate feel, as if crafted quietly in a bedroom. Given how easily such sounds can become over-the-top, this balance is quite interesting and shows good taste.
The lyrics are also private and abstract, feeling like poetry. However, as suggested by the sound, the content seems to evoke nighttime or bedroom-like atmospheres. Ultimately, it does convey a sense of “death,” but the utterly relaxed sound is incredibly soothing.
I'm writing this review while listening to it, and it's now past 4 a.m. It's perfect for listening at this hour. I don't think it's suited for a sunny daytime.
