moreru's latest album from 2025 feels like it's reached even further than their previous works. Their previous EP, ‘Playing a Knife with Dark Light Music,’ strongly conveyed elements of noise grindcore violence and black metal from the outset. Including its monochrome, low-resolution jacket, it intensely showcased their extreme side. However, this new work continues the flow from their previous album, ‘Cursed Confession, First Love, and the World’ – essentially the pinnacle of “emotional violence pop fused forcibly with NicoNico culture.” and a Sekai-kei worldview. This is reflected comprehensively in the title, artwork, and songs themselves, making it feel like a complete album that pushes this style to its absolute limit.

It's not skramz per se, but considering its derailed logic and affinity with otaku culture, it's understandable that support from the skramz sphere remains fervent. This is musical Evangelion – not just musically, but the phenomenon of moreru itself embodies the current cutting edge of Japanese culture... an incredible situation unfolding right now. The disjointed lyrics are entertaining, but it's also great that they leave room for listeners to interpret whatever message they want.

moreruの2025年の最新アルバムはこれまでの作品群から更に遠くへ到達したと思う。前作EP『闇の軽音楽で包丁を弾く』はノイズ・グラインドコア・バイオレンス、そしてブラックメタルのエッセンスを冒頭から強く感じさせる内容でモノクロの解像度の低いジャケットを含め、彼らのエクストリームな側面が濃厚に出ているが本作においては、前作アルバム『呪詛告白初恋そして世界』からの流れ、つまりは "ニコニコ文化と強制的に融合されたエモバイオレンス歌謡" の極地であり、更にはセカイ系的世界観が、まさにタイトルにもアートワークにも、そして楽曲にもトータルに反映された作品であり、もはやこのスタイルの先はないのではと思える完全体のアルバムとなっていると感じる。skramzではないはずだが、その脱線のロジック、オタクカルチャーとの親和性を考慮すると未だにskramz文化圏からの支持も熱いのも納得、これは音楽的エヴァンゲリオン、音楽的な側面だけではなく、moreruという現象自体がジャパニーズカルチャーの現在の最前線を体現しているとも言える...というすごい状況が今生まれている。支離滅裂な歌詞も面白いが、受け取りたいメッセージを勝手に受け取れるという余地があるのもいい。
