SAVAK + CONTRACTIONS - "split" (12inch)

The 2024 split between Brooklyn, NY's SAVAK and France's CONTRACTIONS has arrived.

SAVAK is post-punk, but it has a Dr. Feelgood-like pub-rock feel, so much so that the moment I heard the first guitar riff, I thought “She Does It Right”! The first guitar riff is a post-punk, but it has a Dr.Feelgood-like pub-rock feel, and since this is a split with CONTRACTIONS, who went back to 70's garage punk from the context of ex.Daitro - Baton Rouge, there is enough affinity with them.

The band has said goodbye to the modern sound of intensity and pressure, and is returning to music that should be played with friends, a trend that has nothing to do with the larger trends in the music scene, but I can totally understand that feeling.

NYブルックリンのSAVAKとフランスのCONTRACTIONSの2024年スプリットが到着。
SAVAKはポストパンクではあるんだけど最初のギターリフが聞こえた瞬間に「She Does It Right」では!?と思うほどのDr.Feelgood的なパブロック感もあって、ex.Daitro〜Baton Rougeの文脈から70'sガレージパンクへ回帰していったContractionsとのスプリットなので親和性は十分あるでしょう。激しさや音圧至上主義な現代的サウンドに別れを告げ、仲間たちと鳴らすべき音楽へ回帰する、という流れは音楽シーンの大きな流れとは全く無縁ではあるんだけど、その気持ちめっちゃわかるんだよな。
とはいえ内輪なモノではなく、こうやって日本で聞いていても共鳴するものがあるっていうのが良いんだと思う。彼らの音楽は長く聴けるから。
